Today was an inspiring and action-packed journey across Abia’s top innovation hubs, tech institutions, and digital pioneers. From incubators shaping the next generation of startups to institutions driving digital skills training, we witnessed firsthand the growth and potential of Abia’s technology and innovation ecosystem.
A Day of Discoveries and Inspiration
1. Kicking Off at Innovation Growth Hub (IGHub)
Our journey began at Innovation Growth Hub (IGHub), where we were warmly welcomed by CEO, Mr. Daniel Chinagozi. He shared IGHub’s impactful work in:
– Training technical talents and preparing them for global opportunities
– Developing innovative solutions to real-world challenges
– Incubating startups and providing them with the tools to scale
– Supporting businesses through technology-driven services.
IGHub continues to play a pivotal role in building a strong digital economy in Abia.
2. A Stop at Rad5 Tech Hub
At Rad5, co-founders Nnana Oji Nnanna and Uguru Igwe gave us insight into their impactful work.
– Through Rad5 Academy, they are training and upskilling talents.
– With Rad5 Venture Studio, they are incubating and launching startups that address local and global challenges.
Their commitment to entrepreneurial growth and tech education is commendable.
3. Exploring WebDeves Technologies
We visited WebDeves Technologies, a hub that has upskilled over 3,000 Abia youths in ICT in partnership with the World Bank. Their work in digital skills training and software development is empowering young people and creating a pipeline of skilled talent for the tech industry.
4. Discovering Nairame – Bridging Fintech and Logistics
Nairame is at the intersection of fintech and logistics, providing innovative financial solutions while also tackling the challenges in e-commerce and delivery. Their work in supporting startups and training digital talents is shaping a stronger, more efficient digital economy in Abia.
5. Exploring the Unique Approach of DPHub
At DPHub, we saw a fresh approach to digital skills training and employability. They have identified key gaps in how digital skills are applied in business and innovation—and they’re working to fill them. Their mission is to equip the next generation of digital titans in Abia.
6. A Visit to Vision Incubation Hub
Founded by Ikenna Ogbudimkpa of Vision Alive Foundation, Vision Incubation Hub is driving innovation through:
– Tech training programs
– Startup incubation
– Youth development initiatives
Their impact on the Abia tech ecosystem is remarkable, and we’re excited about the future of their work.
7. Learning About Ashpot’s Legacy in Tech Training
One of the earliest tech companies in Abia, Ashpot has been:
– Training developers in Python technologies
– Leading the Python Abia community
– Co-hosting the PyCon Conference
– Working with startups at different growth stages
Ashpot is playing a key role in expanding Python development in the region and nurturing new talent.
8. A Stop at LearnFactory – A Powerhouse in Tech Training
At LearnFactory, we saw one of Abia’s strongest tech training programs in action. They have trained thousands of young people and are actively working with the Abia State Government to scale their impact. Their commitment to preparing talents for global opportunities is making waves in the industry.
9. Engaging with Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic
We also visited Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic, where the Rector, Dr. Engr. Christopher Okoro, shared their vision for:
– Integrating technology and science in skill development
– Becoming one of the first polytechnics to qualify for a national skills certification program
– Collaborating with ATIN to drive innovation and talent development
Their enthusiasm for equipping students with practical tech skills was inspiring.
